Saturday, May 8th, 2010
We’ve got confirmation that Sharp will be launching their own tablet shortly that will run on the open source Ubuntu Linux. Sharp has confirmed that they will make available the Sharp NetWalker PC-T1 Tablet PC within the Japanese market.
The tablet will come with an 800MHz Freescale i.MX515 processor and will have a WSVGA touchscreen display that measures 5-inches in size. The Sharp tablet also includes 512 MB RAM, 8GB hard disk drive, WiFi and Bluetooth technology.
Pricing for the Sharp NetWalker PC-T1 tablet has been set at 47,000 Yen which works out to about $500. There are currently no plans to expand the launch beyond Japan so if you’re outside of the market and are eager to pick this up, you may be looking at the online auction sites or friends and importers that may be able to get one for you.
