Almost official–Sony’s mirrorless system to be named NEX
Thursday, May 13th, 2010
After Gray Powell left the iPhone 4G prototype in a pub, it seems this has become a trend for upcoming gadgets to be seen. In this case, it’s the Sony mirrorless system cameras. According to rumor blog Sony Alpha Rumors, the NEX-3 was spotted in a pub in Asia. But unlike most leaks which involve blurry shots, the pictures of the Sony camera are sharp and seemed to be deliberately posed.
The blog also mentioned that the lens on the camera is a 16mm F2.8, which appears to have a chrome finish. Following in the footsteps of Olympus when it first unveiled the E-P1, the Sony shooter doesn’t seem to have an onboard flash. There will, however, be a proprietary connector for external strobes.
It has also been rumored that Sony will announce the NEX-3 and another model on May 11, so keep a lookout here on CNET Asia as we bring you more updates.
